Special Note : Should your luggage become lost or damaged whilst in custody of an airline you will need to retain your flight tickets and baggage tags - and obtain an Irregularity Report from the airline concerned. Remember to retain receipts or accounts for medical expense claims.
Below is a brief summary of the main points of the Insurance policy:
Section 1
Personal accident
Up to £30,000
This section provides cover if you suffer accidental injury by external violent or visible means, which causes death or loss of eyes or limbs or permanent total disablement, during the period of insurance. Accidental death and death as a result of sickness is limited to £2,500 and £1,000 respectively for anyone aged 15 years or less.
Section 2
Medical and emergency expenses
Up to: £1,000,000 (£30 excess)
This section covers unforeseen medical expenses while abroad, including repatriation following an accident or illness if deemed medically necessary and with the prior approval of the Underwriters or the 24 Hour Emergency Telephone Service (be sure to have the necessary documents available - see Insurance Certificate for details).
Replacement Group Leader
Up to £5,000 (£30 excess)
This covers a replacement group leader, if deemed necessary, in the event of a group leader suffering accidental death or death as a result of sickness, during the period of insurance.
Section 3
Luggage and personal effects
Up to £800 (£30 excess)
This covers loss or damage to your belongings as long as you have taken proper care of them and certain limitations apply. Passports, tickets and document cover is limited to £100 for any individual item, Group Equipment is limited to £750 (£30 excess) and deductions are made for age and wear and tear, Group Money is limited to £500 (£30 excess) and only applies to money being physically carried on the person of the Group Leader or left in a hotel safety deposit box during the period of the insurance. No cover applies to money held by individual Group members.
Section 4
Personal Liability
Up to £2,000,000
This section covers claims made against you in respect to injury or damage caused to third parties for which you are legally liable during the period of insurance and arising from your holiday pursuits. The Endsleigh Group Travel Insurance further indemnifies the Group Leaders travelling with the Group in respect of claims arising out of or in the course of their employment. Cover under this insurance is also extended to indemnify the Local Education Authority and/or Governing Body of the relevant school.
No admission of liability, offer, promise of payment or payment must be made by you, without the prior written consent of the Underwriters.
Section 5
Cancellation and curtailment
Up to £1,500 (£30 excess)
This section covers cancellation charges levied up to the final invoice cost of the trip (excluding the insurance premium) if you have to cancel your trip due to one of the reasons specified in the Insurance Certificate. The Endsleigh Group Travel Insurance cover is further extended to include redundancy or cancellation of leave or posting of a parent. Curtailment does not cover refund of travel tickets but does cover additional travel expenses incurred by the curtailment.
